About our Gigs & Events

The Cornstore provides a unique and homely event space with regular gigs taking place in both The Loft and The Front Room supporting homegrown, original talent.

We do not have a bar so all events are ‘Bring Your Own’. We have a no glass policy in the upstairs/Loft venue as the space is also used for other activities including dance classes where participants dance in their bare feet. Please be respectful of this!

The G Sessions began in 2004 as a spinoff of the annual Glasgowbury festival, enabling local and touring bands and artists the opportunity to build audiences and to launch singles, EPs and Albums. We had many a great night in the Cellar Bar with the best of our homegrown talent, ASIWYFA, MojoFury, FWW, Cashier No.9, Duke Special, General Fiasco raising the roof. Now housed in the unique surroundings of The Loft at the G HQ the G Sessions continue to provide quality entertainment to an appreciative audience. We have been glad to welcome Ciaran Lavery, Marc O’Reilly , The Wood Burning Savages, The Orchid Collective, Michael Mormecha, ex magician, Waldorf & Cannon, Paddy Nash and the Happy Enchiladas and look forward to many more nights supporting local artists. Come and join us!

The Sunday Unplugged Sessions are a new event since moving to the Cornstore. The sessions are held early evening in the intimate surroundings of the Front Room to a limited audience. Again the sessions enable local and touring artists the opportunity to build audiences and to launch singles, EPs and Albums. They are a place for trying out new material to an audience that will give you an honest opinion while drinking their coffee or supping on a beer. We’ve had the pleasure of listening to the likes of Junior Johnson, Paddy Nash, Jonny Nutt, Sam Wickens, Gemma Bradley and Mickey McCullagh (Son of a Hound). Admission to the Sunday Sessions is ‘pass the hat’ at the end of the evenings performances. While nothing can beat up close and live, for those who can’t make it, keep an eye out on facebook for live performances of the sessions.

In addition to these we hold Rural Key youth showcase gigs where young people who take part in our music programmes get a chance to take to the stage. DJ and comedy nights and art exhibitions also support our range of local talent and build audiences for them.

From time to time we hold Fundraising events to support the work in the Cornstore, always a good night of entertainment and craic!
